Invictus Games CEO Reveals How Meghan Markle Is To Be Addressed

Meghan Markle insists on being addressed as “Ma'am,” Invictus Games CEO Scott Moore has revealed. The newly appointed head of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 disclosed that he was briefed on this unique approach before his first encounter with the Duchess of Sussex during their visit to Canada earlier this year.

“I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here,” Mr Moore shared, according to The Mirror. The advice he received was: a simple “Ma'am” for Meghan and “Sir” for Prince Harry. This guideline differs from the formal address typically reserved for royals, where they are addressed first as “Your Royal Highness” followed by “Ma'am” or “Sir.” However, after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer hold “HRH” titles, making this protocol unnecessary.

The choice to maintain formal titles is different from Prince Harry's previous stance on informality. In 2020, he attended a tourism conference in Edinburgh, where he told the host and the audience to simply call him “Harry.”

The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both active and veteran. The Games were founded by Prince Harry in 2014, inspired by the Warrior Games in the United States.

During the ex-royal couple's February trip to Vancouver, the Sussexes took time to connect with the Invictus community on Valentine's Day, joining participants for winter sports training. This event, named the “One Year to Go” celebration, spanned three days and allowed members of the international Invictus community to participate in various winter sports in preparation for next year's games. The Vancouver event, which will take place from February 8 to February 16, 2025, will build on the success of the 2023 games held in Germany.

At last year's games, Meghan Markle hinted at the possibility of bringing along their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Was Indian-Origin Teen Pushed Into Walmart Oven? What Co-Workers Said

Days after an Indian-origin woman was found dead inside a walk-in oven of the Walmart store's bakery department in Canada, an employee has said that she believes that the 19-year-old was thrown into the oven by another person.

Gursimran Kaur was found dead in one of the superstore's appliances in Halifax on October 19. According to reports, she was found charred to death by her mother, who also worked at the store for the last two years.

Last week, the police said that the investigation has not yet reached a point where the "cause and manner" of death have been confirmed.

"The investigation is complex and involves several partner agencies. An investigation of this nature may take a significant amount of time," the Halifax Regional Police.

However, Walmart employees have suggested that she was locked in a walk-in oven and "baked to death".

In a video on TikTok, Chris Breezie, a co-worker, said that the oven she used while working at Walmart turned on from the outside and that the door handle was "really hard" to open, The Mirror reported on Wednesday.

"I don't even know if I would fit in here," Breezie, who claimed she was 5 foot 1, said while demonstrating how the oven at Walmart works. "I would have to crouch down to get in."

She pointed out that there was an emergency latch located inside the oven and that there were no tasks that required a worker to enter the oven physically.

"I would never be in here, whether I'm cleaning it or not," she said.

Breezie claimed that in order to lock the oven, you have to "push" the latch "with all your might".

"There is no way possible somebody could lock themselves in there," she said in the video.

She said she believed Gursimran Kaur had been thrown into the oven by a second person.

According to The Mirror, another employee, Mary, said it "doesn't make any sense" as the door does not close by itself.

"It's designed not to do that. You have to push it, hear the click," she said.

"I'm not trying to theorize or form a conspiracy, it's just hard to wrap my head around it when Walmart's bakery ovens are so safe to use," she added.

A stop-work order has been issued for the bakery and "one piece of equipment" at the Walmart store.

In a statement, Walmart Canada said the company is heartbroken and their thoughts are with the woman's family.

Harbhajan Has Last Laugh As Pak Warning To Gary Kirsten Turns Into Reality

As former South Africa cricketer Gary Kirsten joined the Pakistan men's team as their limited-overs coach, not many in the Indian cricketing fraternity were happy. Kirsten was Team India's coach when the MS Dhoni-led side won the ICC ODI World Cup in 2011. Seeing Kirsten join the team across the border, many fans and former India cricketers weren't pleased. In fact, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh even asked him to return to the Indian team as head coach. Now that Kirsten has resigned as Pakistan's coach, Harbhajan had the 'last laught'.

"Don't waste ur time there Gary.. Come back to Coach Team INDIA. Gary Kirsten One of the rare gems. A great coach, mentor, friend to all in the 1202 team. Our winning coach of the 2011 World Cup. Special Man Gary @Gary_Kisten," Harbhajan Singh had written in a post on X after Pakistan were knocked out early from the T20 World Cup 2024.

As Kirsten submitted his resignation as Pakistan's white-ball coach, a fan reminded everyone of the warning Harbhajan had given to Kirsten after taking up the job.

Harbhajan too reacted to the said 'reminder' and shared a couple of laughing emojis.

The last few weeks, a lot of changes have taken place in the Pakistan team. After Pakistan's defeat against England in the first Test at Multan, the PCB decided to change the entire selection committee. Pakistan went on to win the next two matches but questions still remain on the manner in which the board functions. Mohammad Rizwan has also replaced Babar Azam as the team's new white-ball captain, another change that came into effect after Kirsten's resignation.

"Pujara Held Fort In 2018": Ex Chief Selector's Concerning Kohli Remark

If only numbers were to be taken into consideration, Virat Kohli would unarguably be India's go-to player with the bat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting next month. Kohli has been prolific against the Aussies over the years, scoring over 1300 runs Down Under in Tests at an average of 54.08. But, despite possessing 8 hundreds and 5 fifties under his belt against Australia (overall in Tests), Kohli's name isn't giving the veteran of Indian cricket much confidence.

In the ongoing 3-match Test series against Australia, Kohli hasn't even accumulated 100 runs in 4 innings. While he has been named in the Indian team for the Australia assignment, former BCCI selection committee chief MSK Prasad is quite concerned with his form.

While Kohli is a big name in world cricket, Prasad feels India will miss the calmness of Cheteshwar Pujara in Australia.

"Hundred percent. If you look at the way he performed in the 2018 series, on one side he brought aggression into batting and on the other side (Cheteshwar) Pujara was holding the fort. So we are missing the combination those two had, caution with aggression," he said on Star Sports.

"Pujara was playing solidly on one side and Virat got aggression from the other end. The way Virat batted, he inspired everyone else. So the form of the most premier batter is definitely a cause for concern, that too with the ICC Test Championship and the points system that's there," the former India selector explained.

In the last 10 innings, Virat has only scored 245 runs at an average of 27.22. His return to form will be crucial to India's hopes of beating Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. With the team's World Test Championship qualification chances also in balance, Kohli's return to form become more crucial than it has been of late.

Why Gary Kirsten Quit As Pakistan's Coach? Real Reason Revealed

Pakistan's white-ball coach Gary Kirsten has decided to step down after developing a rift with the country's cricket board within six months of being appointed, according to multiple reports. The 56-year-old, who coached India to victory at the 2011 ODI World Cup, was appointed by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) in April end this year. It has been reported that cracks started to develop between Kirsten and the Pakistan Cricket Board ever since the national selection committee was given the sole responsibility of picking teams, with no input from the coach or the captain being taken.

Pakistan's Test coach Jason Gillespie even said that his role has been reduced to a match-day analyst, which isn't something "he signed up for". While Kirsten hasn't made a public statement on the matter, a report in ESPNCricinfo has revealed that he is quite upset with the recent developments.

Even when Mohammad Rizwan was named Pakistan's new white-ball captain, no input was taken from Kirsten. The South African wasn't even in the country when Rizwan's appointment was made official in a press conference.

As per the report, his decision to quit is down to a rift with red ball coach Jason Gillespie, and the PCB after the board decided to withdraw their selection powers.

Selection is now exclusively the domain of the selection committee. Kirsten is expected to issue a statement later in the day.

Aaqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Hassan Cheema were added to the selection committee after Pakistan lost the first Test of the series against England. Aaqib is expected to take up the job of Pakistan's white-ball coach on a long-term basis.

The former Proteas batter had been working as a batting coach with the Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Titans before taking up the role in Paksitan.

The development comes a week before Pakistan's white-ball tour of Australia starting November 4.

The team is riding high on a come-from-behind 2-1 triumph over visiting England in a Test series that concluded last week.

Baba Vanga And Nostradamus Have Made The Same Chilling Prediction For 2025

Renowned seers Baba Vanga and Nostradamus are gaining attention for their eerily similar predictions for 2025. These legendary prophets, known for their astonishingly accurate forecasts, have made strikingly similar prophecies, including alien contact with humans, an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin, terrorist attacks in Europe, and a tumultuous reign for King Charles. Most alarmingly, both mystics foresee a devastating conflict in Europe in 2025, sparking widespread interest and debate.

Blind Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga, who died in 1996, became a cult figure among conspiracy theorists after some of her pronouncements somehow proved to be true. Also called the Nostradamus of the Balkans, Baba Vanga is said to have foretold major world events like the 9/11 terror attacks, the death of Princess Diana, the Chornobyl disaster, and Brexit. Meanwhile, ancient French astrologer Michel de Nostredame, commonly known as Nostradamus, was also renowned for making accurate predictions.

What exactly have they predicted?

Baba Vanga has forecasted a catastrophic war in Europe in 2025, predicting widespread devastation and significant population loss. Her prophecy suggests a new conflict will arise between the two nations, separate from the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. She has also foreseen two revolutionary developments: a long-awaited encounter with extraterrestrial life, and a major breakthrough in telepathy, with the potential for perfecting this mind-to-mind communication technique.

Similarly, Nostradamus has also envisioned a dire future for Europe. His centuries-old prophecies speak of "cruel wars" engulfing the continent and the resurgence of an "ancient plague," worse than enemies.

Nostradamus also suggested that the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict will conclude due to mutual exhaustion, implying a wear-down of resources and willpower on both sides. However, this respite may be short-lived, as he also foresees devastating natural disasters in Brazil, including volcanic eruptions and severe flooding. These catastrophes may have far-reaching consequences, potentially reshaping global dynamics.

While interpretations are subjective, these predictions have captivated audiences worldwide, sparking fascination and debate.

Assassinations, Cyberattacks: How Israel Attacked Iran Over The Years

From hitjobs to sabotages and cyberattacks, Israel has either been blamed for or has itself claimed a variety of attacks against Iran.

In Israel's sights are Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Tehran's nuclear programme.

As Israel launched a series of air strikes Saturday, which it said were aimed at Iran's military infrastructure, AFP looks at the other attempts over the years.

Revolutionary Guard

Israel has been blamed for targeting top members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, mostly in attempts outside their country's borders.

Latest victims include a general killed on September 27 by the side of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike in the suburbs of Beirut.

An air strike blamed on Israel on Iran's consular annex building in Damascus on April 1, 2024 killed, according to Tehran, seven members of the Revolutionary Guards, including two of top rank.

The recent killings are only the latest in a long list.

In December 2023, a commander died in Syria in an attack blamed on Israel, a year after a colonel was killed, also in Syria.

In May 2022, Sayyad Khodaei, a member of the Quds Force, the unit in charge of the Guards' external operations, was gunned down by two motorcyclists on his way home in Tehran. According to the New York Times, Israel told the United States that it was responsible for the hitjob.

General Hassan Moghadam, responsible for armament programmes, was killed in an explosion at a munitions depot in November 2011 close to Tehran, in an operation blamed on the United States and Israel.

Iran's nuclear programme

Israel has also been accused of carrying out targeted assassinations against several high-ranking Iranian physicists, often linked to Tehran's nuclear programme.

Among them are nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, killed in November 2020 and presented after his death as a vice minister of defence.

Scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, who was working on the Natanz nuclear site, and Majid Shahriari, the founder of Iran's nuclear society, as well as particle physics professor Massoud Ali Mohammadi were others killed over the years.

Israel has also been accused of sabotaging Iranian nuclear installations, mainly the Natanz complex to the south of Tehran.

On April 11, 2021, the site saw a small explosion, according to Iran's atomic energy agency.

The New York Times reported that Israel played a part in the "strong blast" that apparently took out the internal electric system supplying uranium enrichment centrifuges.

Another "accident" also hit Natanz in July 2020, in what Iran's atomic agency had said was a "sabotage".

In September 2010, a cyberattack using the Stuxnet virus took out the enrichment centrifuges at Natanz.

Iran accused Israel and the United States, while information security experts also pointed the finger at Washington.

Iran's allies

Iran's allies too have found that Tehran is not always safe shelter.

Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed on July 31 in Iran's capital in an attack blamed on Israel. He was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president Masoud Pezeshkian.

Iranian petrol

In March 2021, the Wall Street Journal, citing US and Middle East officials, reported that Israel had in 2019 targeted at least a dozen vessels travelling to Syria and in most cases, transporting Iranian petrol.

The report said Israel had deployed underwater mines in the assault.

Through 2021, Israel and Iran accused each other of naval sabotages.

Tech Millionaire Shares 5 Habits That Dramatically Improved His Posture

Bryan Johnson, a 46-year-old software millionaire who is on a quest to reverse his biological age, recently shared his astonishing transformation on social media, revealing how he "dramatically" improved his posture with five key habits. In a series of posts, Mr Johnson shared his personal experience following an MRI that he claims revealed a "ticking time bomb of a problem" - his posture. "I didn't realise how terrible my posture was until an MRI showed it was slowly killing my brain," he tweeted.

In his post, the tech mogul said that his MRI indicated that his posture was trapping blood in his brain, blocking it from flowing properly to his heart. He further outlined the potentially life-threatening consequences of his condition. "Was I going to have a seizure? A stroke? I didn't know," he wrote, noting that many people may unknowingly face similar risks due to poor posture habits.

"Our posture norms are pretty bad," Mr Johnson remarked, citing common practices such as slumping in a chair all day and looking down at screens. "Poor posture is normalized and it has all kinds of negative health effects," he wrote. He also explained that such habits can lead to several health issues, including musculoskeletal pain, circulatory issues, digestive problems, impaired lung function, nerve compression, spinal misalignment, increased stress, fatigue, mood changes, lower motivation, and sleep disturbances.

Mr Johnson then revealed that five key habits that he claimed have dramatically improved his posture. First, he demonstrated a simple mental exercise that can remind you to maintain an upright posture. Second, he warned against looking down at devices and urged everyone to hold the phone at eye level in a bid to avoid bending the head down.

Third, Mr Johnson stressed the importance of moving every 30 minutes throughout the day. "Take a brisk walk; climb some stairs; do some stretches; break out into dance. Anything active. Improved blood flow and a nice reset for posture," he wrote.

In the next tweet, he revealed two exercises to strengthen posture muscles. And in the next post, he acknowledged that strengthening neglected muscles can lead to initial soreness, but also reassured that this discomfort is a sign of progress.

"Improving my posture has been one of the most important things I've done in my wellness efforts at Blueprint. Posture carries a profound psychological weight. When you stand tall, you exude confidence and self-acceptance," Mr Johnson said.

"Improving your posture doesn't just benefit you; it creates a ripple effect that encourages those around you to be mindful of their own posture as well. In my family, whenever someone spots another person slouching, we make a "zzzzzip" sound. Instantly, the person straightens up, often without even needing to say a word," he wrote.

Notably, Mr Johnson, a former Silicon Valley executive, is known for his obsession with anti-ageing. He spends $2 million a year on medical diagnostics and treatments combined with a meticulously crafted regimen of eating, sleeping, and exercising to see if he can slow, and perhaps even reverse, the ageing process.

A few days back, he revealed how he reversed male pattern baldness and restored his hair's natural colour in under a year. Before this, he claimed that he underwent a "total plasma" exchange, a radical procedure aimed at purging toxins from his body.

US Model Claims Plastic Surgeon Boyfriend Turned Her Into Sex Slave

A shocking lawsuit has been filed against New York City plastic surgeon Ammar Mahmoud, alleging that he subjected his girlfriend to horrific physical and emotional abuse, turning her into a "sex slave." The suit claims that Mahmoud, who is 15 years older than Maya Willow Sias, brutally beat her, causing severe injuries including a destroyed eye socket, the New York Post reported. The $10 million suit details a pattern of shocking abuse and control, with Mahmoud exploiting his position of power as a medical professional to manipulate and harm Ms Sias.

In an attempt to conceal his actions, Mahmoud allegedly took Ms Sias to his medical spa, Alinea, where he injected filler into her swollen eye without administering any painkillers or anaesthesia. This painful procedure was purportedly performed to hide the bruises and wounds inflicted by Mahmoud.

''He stabbed me in the face with a needle, I could feel the needle scratching against the bone,''  the 25-year-old singer and model told the New York Post.

Ms Sias further claimed that Ammar hid his true nature behind his successful medical career, claiming he was a drug-abusing sex addict with a history of violence against women.

Notably, their relationship began in April 2023 on a Miami yacht, where Ammar, already in a relationship, proposed a threesome. Although she declined, she thought he was charming and they kept in touch. When she visited New York City for a modelling job, Ammar wooed her with a romantic date, lavish gifts, and exotic trips to Dubai and Miami.

However, the fairy tale quickly turned sour. Ms Sias alleged that Ammar regularly abused ketamine and 2C, synthetic psychedelic drugs, and became increasingly violent. As their relationship progressed, Ammar offered to transport her belongings from North Carolina to his Fifth Avenue address.

''Almost nightly, Dr. Mahmoud would abuse drugs and alcohol, and force himself upon Willow at all hours of the night, irrespective of whether Willow consented to the sexual acts, or was even conscious,'' read the lawsuit.

The suit also described one particularly brutal night when she was beaten until she lost consciousness. The evening began with a dinner date with him, after which they returned home. However, the night took a dark turn when Maya awoke to find Ammar partying with three prostitutes. Upon confronting him, Ammar beat her until she lost consciousness.

''After the women left, Dr. Mahmoud violently hurled Willow to the ground, mercilessly punched her face and body, and smothered her face with a pillow, causing her to lose consciousness,” the lawsuit stated.

The model claimed her injuries were so severe that her eye was swollen shut and her body was covered in bruises, among other injuries. He prescribed Ms Sias antidepressants, in addition to forcing her to take ketamine to ''keep her obedient and compliant.''

Mahmoud's alleged sexual abuse escalated as well, ''forcing her to participate in non-consensual sexual activities with strangers, sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious, and physically restraining and threatening her,'' according to the lawsuit.

He forced her to stay in his apartment and monitored her location using her phone. The surgeon also allegedly threatened her with consequences if she tried to leave. Ms Sias said she finally escaped Mahmoud after she went to California for a job and never returned, even leaving all her possessions at his apartment.

Disturbingly, Ammar's ex-wife has also accused him of physical violence in an ongoing 2014 lawsuit.

Odisha, Bengal Brace For Cyclone Dana: Schools Shut, 150 Trains Cancelled

Schools have been shut and over 150 trains cancelled as Odisha and West Bengal brace for Cyclone "Dana", which is likely to cross the coasts between Puri and Sagar Island in the early hours of October 25 with wind speeds of up to 120 kmph. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning said that a deep depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm 'Dana'.

At 5.30 am today, the system lay 560 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha) and 630 km south-southeast of Sagar Island (West Bengal), it said.

It is very likely to move in a northwestward direction and intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm over the northwest Bay of Bengal by Thursday morning, the premier weather agency said.

The Met department advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till October 25.

Cyclone Dana Shuts Schools In Odisha

In Odisha, all educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities have been shut in 14 districts till October 25 ahead of Cyclone Dana's landfall.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi-led Odisha government has cancelled leave for its employees and placed all coastal districts on high alert.

The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and fire service personnel have also been put on standby, with particular attention to the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam and Khorda.

Bengal Braces For Cyclone Dana

In West Bengal, schools in seven districts will remain closed till October 26 in view of Cyclone Dana. The districts likely to be impacted most include South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, and Purba Medinipur, along with coastal areas and neighbouring districts like Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Jhargram, and Hooghly.

"We do not want to take any risk. Schools and colleges are sometimes used as shelters for people," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, adding her government is ready to face the cyclone.

More than 150 express/passenger trains running through South Eastern Railway (SER) jurisdiction have been cancelled.

The Kolkata-headquartered SER zone is spread over West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.

The trains cancelled include Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur AC Express, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express, Howrah-Bhubaneswar Shatabdi Express and Howrah-Yesvantpur Express.

An official said the trains cancelled were scheduled to depart their originating stations between October 23 and 25.

More trains running through the SER zone may be cancelled if the situation demands, the official said.

Cyclone Dana Was Named By Qatar

As per the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Cyclone Dana's name was suggested by Qatar. It means "generosity" in Arabic.

The WMO says that assigning names to tropical cyclones makes tracking and discussing specific storms more "straightforward, especially when multiple storms are active simultaneously."

"Naming also helps to avoid confusion among meteorologists, media, emergency management agencies and the public. Additionally, naming tropical cyclones can aid historical record-keeping and research on storm behaviour and impacts," the WMO says.

Sunil Bharti Mittal Heard Own AI Voice. It Asked For Large Fund Transfer

Artificial Intelligence (AI) will shape the future of the global economy and geopolitics, said Bharti Enterprises chairman, Sunil Mittal, at the NDTV World Summit, adding that AI has its risks, particularly the potential for misuse. Mr Mittal, who heads India's second-largest telecom firm, Bharti Airtel, recounted a personal experience illustrating AI's potential dangers.

He described an incident where a senior finance official in Dubai received a fraudulent call that mimicked his voice, directing a large fund transfer. But the vigilant official detected the fraud in time. Upon hearing the voice recording himself, Mr Mittal admitted he was "stunned" by the accuracy, warning that future misuse could extend to digital signatures and even visual impersonation on video calls.

"And anyone who would not have been vigilant may have done something about it," Mr Mittal said. "We'll have to protect our societies from the evils of AI, and yet we have to use the goodness of AI because those companies, and nations that will not adopt AI will be left behind. So this is a conundrum for every time you get a new technology into place, there are pluses and minuses. I remain very optimistic about the benefit of AI that the human race will achieve and be able to do jobs which are otherwise very difficult to perform."

Mr Mittal said that AI is already transforming operations within Bharti Airtel. Routine and repetitive tasks, such as those in call centres and workforce management, are being replaced by AI, leading to greater efficiency but also reducing traditional jobs.

"Just 10 years back, every time a customer had to be onboarded onto a mobile phone, there was a physical form to be filled out. There were runners on scooters and more bikes who would take those forms to a different centre. From there, they would fax it to another place...in 10 years' time, it seems like a joke today," Mr Mittal said.

The Barti Group chief said that rapid advancements in AI will impact everything from global economies to geopolitics.

"AI will be one of the most important drivers of economy, politics, and geopolitics. But there will be misuse as well, and we will need to be more vigilant," Mr Mittal said. "Nation states will have to come up with guardrails. One will have to be vigilant, society will have to be protected from the evils of AI. I remain very optimistic of the various use of AI."

New Netflix Documentary Shows London Woman's 9-Year Catfishing Nightmare

Kirat Assi, a London resident and radio presenter, thought she was finally going to meet the man she'd fallen in love with. They had texted each other for nine years. However, when the two came face-to-face, Ms Assi found someone she never expected. In a shocking twist, her entire relationship had been an elaborate catfishing scheme, orchestrated not by a stranger but by someone much closer — a female cousin, Simran. Now, Netflix has released a documentary, Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare, retelling this story of betrayal.

It all began in 2009 when Ms Assi got a friend request from ‘Bobby,' a supposed cardiologist from west London. Soon, it evolved into a long-distance relationship. The two shared connections within their Sikh community, which made the relationship seem genuine.

Over time, their online conversations deepened, but as years passed, their connection remained virtual, with Bobby continually giving bizarre reasons for why they couldn't meet in person. The excuses were nothing short of dramatic — claims of being shot, suffering a stroke and even entering witness protection — according to a report in BBC. However, what made these lies convincing to Ms Assi were the people she believed were corroborating his stories. They were always someone close to Bobby, or that's what she thought.

After nine years of emotional manipulation, Ms Assi finally confronted the truth — this entire thing was a hoax, and the man she thought she was in love with didn't even exist. She had been a victim of a catfishing scheme and the person behind the messages wasn't Bobby but her female cousin, Simran.

According to an article in Birmingham Live, throughout the ordeal, Ms Assi, in fact, leaned on Simran for support. However, one day, Simran dropped the bombshell, revealing to a devastated Ms Assi that she hadn't been communicating with Bobby all along — she had been speaking to Simran herself.

The discovery left Ms Assi devastated and questioning her judgement. “How could you have been so stupid?” she reflects now, according to a BBC report.

Kirat Assi's experience was first shared in a popular 2021 podcast by Tortoise, but the story has since gained renewed attention with the release of the Netflix documentary, Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare.

Ms Assi says she has faced criticism and questions, with many asking how she could fall for such a scheme. “For people who might still think I'm stupid, that's fine, you're allowed your opinion,” she told BBC Asian Network News, adding, “I'm not stupid, I'm not dumb. I'm the one that's chosen to speak. I'm the one that's put myself out in the firing line and I hope others will come forward.”

Ms Assi feels it was important to publicly tell her story, especially given the stigmas surrounding such issues in the South Asian community in the UK. Explaining how the fear of judgement often silences victims, she said, “We are so scared to open up about these issues. Because of how a community will be seen by wider society, the victims in our communities keep suffering.”

This reluctance to address uncomfortable topics was evident even in her own family. Speaking of her father's experience with the situation, Kirat Assi said, “He doesn't want to know what happened. Because to face up to what happened, and how horrific it was, it's going to be painful.”

Despite the traumatic experience, Kirat Assi remains open to having conversations about her experience, encouraging people to approach her if they have questions.

Simran, however, has not faced criminal charges for the catfishing, but Ms Assi took civil action against her, resulting in compensation and an apology. In the Netflix documentary, a statement from Simran was included where she said she views the situation as a “private matter,” rejecting the accusations made against her.

Although Kirat Assi has sought closure, she says the motivation behind Simran's deceit remains a mystery. “I think I've long given up. The extent to which that person went, you can't ever justify it. I can't understand why you didn't stop,” Ms Assi said.

Despite this, she is determined to move forward, rebuilding her life and even starting to date again. “I'm going to carry on working towards goals and dreams,” she said.

Opinion: Israel Has Little Reason To End Its War On Gaza - Even With Yahya Sinwar Dead

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The death of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar on Thursday, October 17, by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), is a watershed moment in the Israel-Hamas war that has raged on since October 7 last year.

A senior member of Hamas, Sinwar had taken over its leadership following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh earlier this year in Tehran. Committed to Israel's destruction, he was the mastermind of the brutal Hamas attacks in October last year, which claimed the lives of over 1,200 Israelis, with more than 200 people taken hostage by the Hamas. Since then, Israeli reprisals have killed almost 42,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Meanwhile, Iran's proxy and ally on Israel's northern borders, the Hezbollah, began launching rocket attacks on Israel. In retaliation, since October 1 this year, Israel has been involved in full-scale military operations in Southern Lebanon and Beirut in a bid to create a buffer zone free of the Hezbollah's presence between Israel and Lebanon.

Following Sinwar's death, US President Joe Biden and European leaders have renewed calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Biden said Sinwar's death was "an opportunity to seek a path to peace" in Gaza.

The Two Aspects To Sinwar's Death

However, a ceasefire has proved elusive since Israel's operations in Gaza. All that has been made possible is a few “humanitarian pauses" to let aid reach the besieged people in Gaza. Israel has resisted all calls for a ceasefire, alleging that any such step would be exploited by the Hamas to regroup and remobilise. Shortly after Sinwar's death, Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations wrote on X: "Yesterday at the UN Security Council, many asked why we are still in Gaza a year after the October 7th atrocities. Today they got the answer. No terrorist is immune to the long arm of the IDF. We will not stop until we bring home all of our hostages and eliminate the Hamas monsters.”

There are two aspects to Sinwar's death. On the one hand, defence experts have pointed out that the pictures of the last moments leading to Sinwar's death show him sitting alone in a room above ground. The scene points to significant damage inflicted by the IDF on the numerous underground tunnels that the Hamas used. With the death of numerous high-profile leaders of both the Hamas and the Hezbollah, the organisations are in disarray. The former, especially, has been heavily dismantled. This factor alone may push its other members to surrender and release the 100-odd Israeli hostages still being held captive in the Strip.

Discussions between the US, Israel, the European Union, and Arab states have also revolved around a plan whereby post-war Gaza would see joint-Arab force.

The Question Of Hostages

Israel has turned Gaza into rubble. Even with 42,000 dead in the strip, even after a year of war, it has not been able to achieve one of its major objectives —the release of all hostages. While about 120-odd hostages have been freed—thanks to major back-channel efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the US—a number of them died in captivity, while about 100-odd hostages are still with the Hamas.

On the other hand, the fact remains that high-profile assassinations like Sinwar's are not something new for the Hamas. Israel has a long history of carrying out such operations, and, if anything, the Hamas has only emerged militarily stronger, inflicting increasingly more brutal attacks on Israelis. The October 7 attacks were a culmination of this history, when Hamas launched multi-pronged strikes on Israel from land, sea, and air, carefully dodging all surveillance and air defence systems.  launched multi-pronged strikes on Israel from land, sea, and air, carefully dodging all surveillance and air defence systems. , carefully dodging all surveillance and air defence systems. Many, including those inside Israel, have pointed out that the unprecedented destruction wrought by Israel in Gaza may just be what incentivises others to join the ranks of Hamas and continue its work.

Of course, Hamas has kept up the bravado up too. Sinwar's long-time deputy, Khalil al-Hayya, has said that Sinwar's death “will only increase the strength and resolve of Hamas and our resistance”. What is also interesting is that Fatah, the Hamas's arch-rival and which together with the rest of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation had promised to eschew any violence against Israel, has also officially released a statement mourning the death of "martyr Yahya Sinwar ". Hence, while the world would want nothing more for the hostages to be released and a ceasefire reached, whether it will actually happen remains anyone's guess.

Netanyahu's Quandary

Tellingly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also not committed to any ceasefire. "The war ... is not over yet. And it is difficult, and it exacts heavy prices from us,” Netanyahu said in a video statement after Sinwar's death. He also had a message for the Hamas: “Whoever lays down his weapon and returns our hostages—we will allow him to go on living.”

Indeed, Netanyahu would hope for this to happen. His war on Gaza has not exactly provided him the domestic support he had hoped for, with many in his own country opposing it. As long as the hostages from October 7 remain captive in Gaza, it would be seen as a failure. Besides, with hundreds of IDF soldiers dead and the economy taking an unprecedented hit, the war has taken a great toll on the Israeli people themselves. The conflict has significantly escalated with Israel's air and ground operations in Lebanon, which have killed more than 1,000 people and displaced many Lebanese civilians. After the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, Iran launched a barrage of missiles directly at Israel, the second time it has done so this year. Israel has vowed to avenge this. And in another symbolic escalation, none other than Netanyahu's house was targeted in a Hezbollah drone strike.

Harris Or Trump, US Support May Continue

There is little incentive for Netanyahu's government to agree to a ceasefire now, when the IDF's successes in Lebanon and the deaths of those like Nasrallah and Sinwar are being hailed by the Israeli people as achievements after a year of opposition, which even saw calls for the government to resign.

More importantly, with US elections just weeks away, Netanyahu understands that he would likely get a free pass. No matter what US Vice President and Democrat Presidential candidate Kamala Harris's domestic compulsions may be, overall, there is unlikely to be any major opposition to Israel's wars. And in case Donald Trump and the Republicans form the next government, they are only expected to take a harsher stance against Iran. Marwan al-Muasher, Jordan's former foreign minister and now Vice-President for Studies at the U.S.-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, sums it up: "There is no reason for Netanyahu to stop his wars before the American elections."

Increasingly, it seems both Israel and Hamas, led by some unknown-to-us, apocalyptic vision, are fighting to the finish.

Milky Way-Like Galaxy's Discovery Challenges Theories On Cosmic Evolution

Astronomers have discovered a remarkably orderly distant galaxy named REBELS-25 using the Atacama Large Millimetre/submillimetre Array (ALMA) telescope, which shows surprising similarities to the Milky Way despite being much younger.

REBELS-25 exhibits a rotation-dominated structure, unlike expectations that early systems would appear clumpy and chaotic. “According to our understanding of galaxy formation, we expect most early systems to be small and messy-looking,” said Jacqueline Hodge, an astronomer at Leiden University, as per CNN. Thus, this discovery challenges the current understanding of cosmic formation.

Dave Clements, an astrophysicist from Imperial College London, called the galaxy's disc-like structure unexpected for such an early stage in the universe's development. “The universe back then is thought to be a lot more chaotic,” Mr Clements explained. He questioned whether REBELS-25 is an outlier or indicative of flawed galaxy formation theories.

The galaxy is seen as it was when the Universe was only 700 million years old. This relatively short timeline for REBELS-25's formation contradicts the traditional view of galaxies evolving slowly over billions of years. “Seeing a galaxy with such similarities to our own Milky Way... challenges our understanding of how quickly galaxies in the early Universe evolve,” noted Lucie Rowland, the study's lead author and a doctoral student at Leiden University.

Andrew Blain, a professor of astrophysics at the University of Leicester, described the discovery as “a bit unusual,” saying that it is not revolutionary but noteworthy. He explained how ALMA has played a crucial role in finding these galaxies, which would otherwise be too faint to detect. Mr Blain said, “ALMA also reveals details finer than earlier telescopes.”

The research has been accepted for publication in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, and further observations are planned to confirm the presence of spiral arms and other advanced structures.

Sarfaraz "Giving Finger To Mumbai Batting School": Tendulkar's Ex-Teammate

Sarfaraz Khan ended a long wait in his inspiring cricket journey on Saturday as the Mumbai player slammed his maiden Test ton for Indian cricket team at a crucial juncture in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. Sarfaraz played a counter-attacking knock, sometimes with brazen disregard for the rival bowlers, as he scored the ton in just 110 balls. Courtesy his ton and Rishabh Pant's half-century, India are on course to give New Zealand a decent enough target in the fourth innings.

Former Indian cricket team star Sanjay Manjrekar had an interesting thing to say about Sarfaraz Khan's innings. "Love how Sarfaraz Khan is giving the finger to the ‘Mumbai school of batting' Finally, it's all about runs & boy he knows how to get those! #INDvNZ," Manjrekar wrote on X. Interestingly Manjrekar, just like Sachin Tendulkar, played cricket for Mumbai at the national level.

Earlier, Manjrekar had predicted a strong comeback by India despite being all out for 46 in the first innings.

"If I were NZ, I would be slightly worried with India's strong reply. This Indian team has a great knack of coming back. Only recently SA needed 30 off 30 balls in the WT20 finals, remember that comeback? #INDvNZ", Majrekar wrote on X on Friday.

Meanwhile, top-order batter Rachin Ravindra was relieved after New Zealand managed to bag the big wicket of Virat Kohli off the final ball of the third day, and hoped the bowlers will keep piling pressure on India on Saturday.

Kohli (70) and Sarfaraz Khan (70 not out) added 136 runs for the third wicket to take India to 231 for three at stumps in the opening Test.

But the former Indian skipper fell to Glenn Phillips, edging him to stumper Tom Blundell to bring some respite to the visitors.

"It's pretty hard to crystal-ball gaze into the future. It's a quality batting line-up on a wicket that's not doing too much, so it's important for us to hold our lines and lengths and do that for long periods. But I think Kohli's wicket at the end was very important," Ravindra told reporters during the post-day press meet.

"Obviously, he's a guy who has scored 9,000-plus Test runs, which is pretty mind-blowing, but for us it was a huge wicket. We know things happen quickly in this part of the world, so, hopefully, we can stick at it and get a few wickets in the morning," he added.

Massive Fire At Kolkata Hospital, Patient Dies In ICU

A massive fire broke out at a government hospital in central Kolkata this morning. At least 10 fire engines were rushed to the Sealdah area to put off the fire at the ESI hospital, officials said.

A patient died in the hospital's ICU while about 80 others were safely evacuated, said a fire official. The exact cause of the patient's death is not known yet and there was no other report of any injury.

The fire reportedly broke out in one of the wards and it was brought under control before it could spread to other parts of the hospital. The cause of the fire is not known yet.

Visuals from the spot showed a few patients sitting outside the hospital along with their caregivers. The patients were later shifted to other hospitals for treatment.

West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose rushed to the hospital after receiving the report of the fire.

District Fire Officer TK Dutta described the incident as “terrifying”.

“Nearly 80 patients were trapped inside. Within 20 minutes, we successfully rescued them all. One patient who was admitted to the ICU died, but there is no other casualty,” he added. “There was smoke in the ward and the patients were yelling ‘bachao' (save us) from the window”, he said, describing the situation.

Opinion: Nijjar Row: How US Backing Has Emboldened A Beleaguered Trudeau

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Coincidents are rare in diplomacy. It may be significant to keep a note of that as the issue of the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar blows up between India and Canada. The timing of the allegations, each time, from Canada and the escalation of the row despite Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's domestic political troubles indicate that the actions may have been carefully thought through rather than being just a diversionary tactic, which it initially appeared to be. Here's why.

America Has Canada's Back

In the latest round of allegations, Canadian foreign minister Melanie Joly said about the Nijjar killing investigation that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) “gathered information that established linkages between the investigation and agents of the Government of India". It was this message that the Deputy Commissioner of Federal Policing, Mark Flynn, wanted to communicate to his Indian counterpart last week. When the attempts were unsuccessful, he met with officials of the Indian government, along with National Security and Intelligence Advisor (NSIA) Nathalie Drouin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs David Morrison over the weekend.

The Canadian government's decision to expel the diplomats has been based on the RCMP's findings and was taken within a day of the stated meeting, where the NSIA was present along with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, as reported by a US publication. What explains the hurry to present the evidence to India and then immediately act on it with expulsion? Could this have been prompted because the Indian enquiry committee looking into similar allegations by the US was visiting Washington DC just a day after Canada's action?

Now, turn the clock back to September last year when Justin Trudeau told the Canadian Parliament that Indian government agents possibly had a hand in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Many were taken aback by the public announcement by Trudeau on a sensitive issue.

That Trudeau may have wanted to create a distraction from domestic issues only partly explained his action. What seemed more probable was the fact that he was possibly aware of the parallel investigations underway in the US. That Canada was sounded out by the US on the issue is now quite evident, even though what we know now is only that a Five Eyes country alerted Ottawa. Within 10 days of Trudeau's Parliament statement, the US released details of their investigations against Indian national Nikhil Gupta and an Indian government employee referred to as 'CC1' by the US Department of Justice, who plotted the foiled assassination bid on Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, another Khalistani extremist who lives in New York.

The unfolding of the events in September 2023 and today should give a clear sense that there is much greater coordination on this matter between the US and Canada than what meets the eye. Having America's backing on the issue can explain the steps that Canada has taken and the ones it has indicated when Joly did not rule out sanctions by saying that “everything is on the table”.

Foreign Interference

India has repeatedly raised the issue of Khalistan with Canada as a threat to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. With the killing of Nijjar, Canada is using the argument of sovereignty. The issue is also being conflated with the overarching concern over foreign interference.  As a result, the matter has gained traction not just with the public but also politically from an otherwise adversarial opposition, the Conservatives. Pierre Poilievre said, “Any foreign interference from any country, including India, is unacceptable and must be stopped.”

A Parliamentary Committee report identified India as the second most significant foreign threat to Canada following China. The National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians report said, “In addition to interference against Canadian democratic processes and institutions by the PRC, India and to a limited extent Pakistan, other countries, notably Iran engaged in episodic foreign interference directed towards suppressing dissidents and critics in Canada. Known as 'transnational repression,' these activities represent one of the most egregious forms of foreign interference.”

The issue of foreign interference could be a prickly matter for any sovereign nation but more so for Canada and the US in the recent past with their concerns about China and Russia. Hence, this issue is one that generates fear or worry, and thus has the power to mobilise both public and political opinion around India.

Another Five Eyes country, Australia, had earlier reported about a "nest of spies" that was discovered by the Australian Security Intelligence Organization in 2020. Australian news channel ABC reported that “National security and government figures have now confirmed to the ABC that India's foreign intelligence service was responsible for the 'nest of spies', and 'a number' of Indian officials were later removed from Australia by the Morrison government.”

With these two broad factors – US backing and foreign interference – closely associated with the Nijjar killing, the Justin Trudeau government is making drastic and dramatic moves, but perhaps with the knowledge that any backfire will be cushioned.

Mumbai Road Rage Turns Deadly, Man Beaten To Death In Front Of Family

A 28-year-old man was beaten to death by a group of men after a dispute over an autorickshaw hitting his vehicle in Mumbai's Malad on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Akash Maeen, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena worker. He was with his parents at the time of the dispute.

On Saturday evening, near Pushpa Park, the auto driver hit Akash's car while overtaking. This led to an argument between them, after which the auto driver left, Dindoshi Police said.

Akash was assaulted by a crowd that had gathered in support of the auto driver.

The man is seen in a video being thrashed by a group of men while his father tries to push them away. In a desperate attempt to protect him, Akash's mother lay over his body, like a shield.

“Maeen was kicked and punched, leaving him with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. Based on CCTV footage, we held six persons on Sunday and three on Monday. They have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and other offences,” an official said, as reported by the news agency PTI.

The police have arrested nine people. They will be in police custody till October 22.

Kerala Official Found Dead After His Farewell, Was Accused Of Wrongdoing

A day after he was given a send-off by his colleagues, including the Kannur District Collector, from the north Kerala district, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu was found dead at his quarters in Pallikunnu here on Tuesday.

Police said Babu, who was supposed to return to his home district of Pathanamthitta a day earlier to take charge as ADM there, was found hanging in his quarters on Tuesday morning.

At his farewell ceremony, Babu faced allegations of wrongdoing from District Panchayat president P P Divya, who reportedly attended the event without an official invitation.

The District Panchayat president, belonging to the ruling CPI(M), criticised the ADM for delaying the approval of a petrol pump in Chengalai for several months.

Divya accused the ADM of granting approval only two days after being transferred and hinted that she knew the reasons behind this sudden approval.

Speaking in the presence of the District Collector and Babu's other colleagues, she also stated that more information would be revealed within two days.

After concluding her speech, Divya declined to stay for the presentation of a memento, saying she did not wish to stand for it, and left the stage.

Heavy Rain In Chennai, Nearby Areas, Schools And Colleges Shut

Overnight rains lashed Chennai and nearby areas and the India Meteorological Department on Tuesday said the low-pressure area is likely to turn well marked soon. While civic authorities said there has been no water stagnation in subways in view of preventive maintenance, water logging was seen in several places inconveniencing road users.

Since Monday night, Chennai and its suburbs, including those falling under nearby Tiruvallur district has been experiencing intermittent rains.

The IMD in a post on X said: "The low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region at 23.30 hours IST of yesterday, the 14th October 2024. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and become a well marked low pressure area over central parts of south Bay of Bengal by morning of today, the 15th October.

"Thereafter, it is likely to intensify into a depression and continue to move west-northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 2 days".

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday took stock of the preparations and steps taken by authorities to tackle the situation that may arise in view of the heavy rain predicted by the met office.

The chief minister directed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force be deployed in advance in the areas prone to be affected.

He has directed the authorities to declare a holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts on October 15, and also asked them to issue an advisory to IT firms to allow their employees to work from home from October 15 to 18.

During the review meeting, the Greater Chennai Corporation officials informed that the civic body has readied 990 pumps, 57 tractors equipped with pump sets, and 36 mechanised boats to be used in case of any emergency. In addition, 46 MT bleaching powder and phenyl were available for sanitation purposes. About 169 fully equipped relief centers would become operational based on the situation.

Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 Design Leaked; India Launch In November 2024

It is no secret that the one of the next launches from Royal Enfield will be the Interceptor Bear 650, a scrambler based on the Interceptor 650 roadster. And barely weeks before its official reveal at EICMA 2024, the motorcycle has been fully revealed with all the details, in what seems to be a company presentation. The motorcycle does look good and stays true to the scrambler design. Now, it will have the same 648 cc parallel-twin engine which is oil/air-cooled and is likely to have the same power and torque output which is 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm.

The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox and instead of the twin exhausts on the Interceptor 650, the Bear 650 will have a two-in-one exhaust. Expect RE to tweak the ratios of the gearbox to offer more torque at the bottom end and mid-range.

In terms of distinguishing features, the images reveal that the Bear 650 will have a different seat and grab-rail along with a number badge on the side, which is a trademark scrambler design element and has Interceptor Bear 650 written on it. From the photos, the handlebar seems to be the same as that of the Interceptor and what we suspect, increased suspension travel with USD fork up front, which will distinguish it as a scrambler, from the roadster that the Interceptor 650 is. What we also see is the motorcycle gets dual-sport tyres with spoked rims - an 18-inch unit up front and a 17-inch unit at the rear.

The image also shows that the motorcycle gets a circular instrument console, which may or may not be a TFT, depending on the variant and we expect it to get switchable ABS, similar to what the Himalayan 450 offers. Royal Enfield is likely to position it above the Interceptor and Continental GT 650, which means an asking price of about Rs. 3.4 to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle will make its official debut at EICMA 2024 and will

"No One Like Him": N Chandrasekaran Shares Untold Stories Of Ratan Tata

On October 9, India mourned the loss of Ratan Tata, the iconic business leader and philanthropist who left an indelible mark on the country's industrial landscape. Across India, tributes are still pouring in for the man whose remarkable life and achievements embody the values of integrity, innovation, and compassion. On Monday, N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons, in a heartfelt post on LinkedIn paid a beautiful tribute to his mentor, reminiscing about the time he spent with him. Mr Chandrasekaran reflected on the legendary industrialist's profound impact, noting that everyone who met him came away with a story about his kindness, warmth, and vision for India. He also remarked how Mr Tata's remarkable ability to connect with people and notice details made him truly special.

''Our relationship grew over the years, first focusing on business and eventually evolving into a more personal connection. We discussed interests ranging from cars to hotels, but when our conversations turned to other matters—those of daily life—he would show how much he noticed and felt. He was someone to be discovered, over time and through experience,'' he wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Mr Chandrasekaran fondly recalled a pivotal moment in 2017 when he and Ratan Tata collaborated to resolve a longstanding wage dispute between Tata Motors and its employees' union. In a meeting with union leaders, Mr Tata expressed regret over the delay, candidly discussed the company's challenges, and assured a prompt resolution.

''Mr. Tata's direction squarely focused on making sure employees were well taken care of—not just to resolve the dispute, but to ensure their and their families' well-being. Across other Group companies, his perspective on employees was uniform. It is something that has shaped a number of our leaders across the Group,'' the Chairman noted.

N. Chandrasekaran shared another fascinating story about the renovation of Bombay House, Tata Group's iconic headquarters. The heritage building, constructed in 1924, had remained untouched for decades, earning it the reputation as a "temple" that shouldn't be altered. When  N. Chandrasekaran discussed renovating Bombay House with Ratan Tata, his initial concern was about the well-being of dogs. ''May I ask you something? When you say ‘renovate', do you mean ‘vacate'?” I explained that we planned to move everyone to a nearby office. He gently clarified: “Where will the dogs go?'', the post read.

Mr Chandrasekaran reassured Mr Tata that a kennel would be built to care for the dogs, bringing a smile to his face. Upon completion of the renovation, Mr Tata's first request was to see the kennel, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to compassion and detail. ''Seeing his happiness with the kennel and his priorities was a reminder that while big projects are important, it's the details that reveal how we think, what we prioritise, and how we are perceived. His joy was confirmation that we had done the right thing,'' Mr Chandrasekaran wrote.

He further highlighted Ratan Tata's exceptional memory and meticulous attention to detail, showcasing his remarkable leadership qualities.

"If Mr. Tata ever visited a place, he could recall everything—from the placement of smallest piece of furniture, the lighting, colours, and so on. His memory was photographic. He remembered the covers and content of books and magazines and referred to them even years later. He was always observing and processing, from large ideas to minute detail," Mr Chandrasekaran recalled.

He concluded his tribute post, saying, ''There is so much else to say about who he was, but for now, as I process his absence, this will have to do: His eye received everything clearly, as his mind perceived everything clearly.''

Ratan Tata died on October 9 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, where he was admitted for a routine health check due to his age.

End Of Road For Babar Azam? PCB's Audacious Decision Stuns Everyone

After Pakistan's humiliating defeat to England in the first Test at Multan, former skipper Babar Azam has been dropped from the squad, a report has confirmed. Babar has been in woeful form over the last few months, across formats. He only scored 30 and 5 across the two innings against England in the first Test, despite the pitch being an absolute belter for batters. Hours after Pakistan's defeat in the Multan Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board constituted a new selection committee, which has reportedly decided to exclude Babar from the second Test squad.

According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, the selection committee, consisting of Aleem Dar, Aaqib Javed, and Azhar Ali have decided to leave out Babar, Pakistan's former captain, from the squad, owing to his barren run with the bat.

The selection committee reportedly met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, as well as the five mentors appointed by the PCB on three-year deals, on Saturday, and finalised the squad.

The development comes despite the fact that Pakistan captain Shan Massood had labelled Babar the team's best batter.

"We want to build a squad mentality. We don't play a lot of Test cricket. Especially as a batter, it is not easy. You have to give a lot of opportunities, and there is no doubt that Babar Azam is Pakistan's best batter. You always have to keep in mind that your best batter is just one game away. We will reflect and see the conditions that will be on offer. We will try to put the best team on the side," Masood had said in the post-match press conference after the first Test.

The selectors traveled to Multan on Saturday to meet with the captain Masood and coach Jason Gillespie. They also held a meeting with the PCB curator Tony Hemming after Multan wicket came in the line of fire over its extremely batting-friendly conditions.

The report claimed that some of the mentors in the PCB-appointed committee were in favour of keeping Babar in the squad, but the majority verdict was against his continuity.

Meet Tesla's Optimus Robot, Humanoid "Friend" Who Can Do Anything

He can serve. He can dance. He can take selfies. He can talk. He can do anything “you want”. That is Tesla's Optimus robot, who can be your humanoid friend. Several humanoid Optimus robots were seen walking the ramp and serving drinks to the attendees at Tesla's ‘We, Robot' event held in California, United States of America, on Thursday.

“It will basically do anything you want. It can be a teacher. It can babysit your kids, walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, just be your friend, and serve drinks. Whatever you can think of, it will do and it's going to be awesome,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk while introducing the latest launch.

In a demo video displayed at the event, Optimus was seen picking up packages and doing household chores like watering plants, cleaning the kitchen top, unloading groceries, and playing with children.

Proving his claims, Musk brought along a bunch of Optimus robots to the party and requested people to be nice to them. “You will be able to walk right up to them and they will serve drinks at the bar. It's a wild experience just to have humanoid robots. They are there, just in front of you.”

Optimus will cost $20,000 to $30,000 in the long term, Musk said.

Internet is amazed by Optimus.

An X user shared a video of Optimus greeting people, chatting with them and taking orders. Take a look:

A user commented, “Didn't it feel like you were in some time travel trip to be there? This event made history for sure.”

Some users raised eyebrows at Optimus's interacting skill. An X user wrote, “Is it really optimus talking? Kinda feeling there's a human behind it.”

Another said, “The ones mingling and serving drinks were remotely operated but still really impressive.”

“When the hand dexterity of Optimus is equal to that of a human being, I would be interested in buying one. Particularly if it can access information on various subjects and learn. I could use the help working on our rental properties and around our place in Arizona,” said another, showing interest in the innovation.
