At the upcoming season of IPL, Starc will be making a comeback to the tournament after an eight-year hiatus. 

Starc last played in IPL for RCB in 2015. He was also bought by KKR during IPL 2018, but the players pulled out of the season, citing personal reasons.

Last week, during the second Test between Australia and Pakistan, Starc completed 650 wickets in international cricket.

After going wicketless in the first innings, Starc was destructive in the second, taking 4/55 in 13.2 overs at an economy rate of 4.10, derailing Pakistan's 317-run chase with regular wickets.

In 263 international matches, Starc has taken 651 wickets at an average of 25.35, with the best figures of 6/28. He has 23 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls in international cricket. He is Australia's fourth-highest wicket-taker of all time, with legendary spinner Shane Warne (1,001) at the top.

In 84 Test matches, Starc has taken 342 wickets at an average of 27.53, with the best figures of 6/50. He has 14 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls in Tests. He is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in Tests, with Warne (708 wickets) at the top.

Starc has also played 121 ODIs, taking 236 wickets at an average of 22.96, with the best bowling figures of 6/28. He has nine five-wicket hauls in ODIs. He is the fifth-highest wicket-taker for Australia in ODIs, with pacer Glenn McGrath (380) at the top.

He also informed that the student's parents have filed a complaint with the Block Education Officer (BEO) demanding a thorough investigation into the teacher's behaviour.

The identities of the teacher and student have not been revealed in the photos that have now gone viral. The post attracted several reactions from social media users.

"Strong action should be taken against the student. He is not innocent," commented one user. "Teacher is practically training her student in love making poses," said another.

One user questioned why there is uproar over the photoshoot, saying there's "nothing wrong in it" adding if action has to be taken "both should be punished".

After receiving the complaint, the BEO V Umadevi visited the school and made some enquiries, said the Deccan Herald report. The official told the outlet that she won't make any comment without making proper enquiry.

"Sita Mata Has Withdrawn Her Curse": 'King' Of Ayodhya On Development Wave

The administration has received over 100 applications for permission to build five-star hotels in Ayodhya, which did not have a proper hotel even a few years back, the man widely known as 'King of Ayodhya' told NDTV weeks ahead of the grand consecration event of the Ram Temple.

Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra is a member of Ayodhya royal family that goes back to King Darshan Singh, believed to have ruled the kingdom sometime in the 19th century. Referred to as Raja Saheb in the city, he has been involved with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement since it began. He is also a member of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is overseeing the construction of the temple after Supreme Court's landmark verdict in the land dispute case.

"Ever since the Supreme Court verdict, there is an environment of joy (in Ayodhya). The temporary temple was built. On holidays, Tuesdays, any festival, there is no space to even walk. Ayodhya did not have a proper hotel, and now more than 100 applications to open five-star hotels have come in, the district magistrate told me," he said.

Ayodhya, he said, was also being developed as a Smart City. "I think that in five years, people will come not just for darshan, but to see the city. Ayodhya will be known as the best holy town in the country," Mr Mishra said.

Ayodhya is undergoing a massive revamp in the run-up to the grand event on January 22. The city is getting a new airport and its railway station is being given a new look and facilities that will help crores of pilgrims visiting the holy town.

Looking at the all-round development, Mr Mishra said, "it appears that Mata Sita has withdrawn her curse".

Ayodhya, according to local legend, had been cursed by Sita when she was banished from the city by Lord Ram over rumours. It is owing to the curse that the city never saw speedy development, many believe.

Mr Mishra's association with Ram Janmabhoomi movement goes back more than three decades. In 1990, when at least 50 karsevaks were killed in police firing at Ayodhya, he had sheltered many karsevaks at his palace, he said.

"I had never hoped that I would be able to see Ram Mandir's construction in my lifetime. It is my good fortune," he said.

China Warns "Military Fans" To Stop Posting Pics Of Sensitive Equipment

China has warned amateur military enthusiasts to avoid posting photos of the country's sensitive military equipment online, saying they could endanger national security. According to a report in CNN, the warning has been posted by China's counter-intelligence agency on WeChat. It raised concerns about how "military fans" are spreading the word to the larger population through social media platforms like Weibo, which have hundreds of millions of active users, the outlet further said. These photos have become a common site as China is rapidly modernising its forces.

"This is a cool hobby, but you must be very careful. Some individual military enthusiasts severely endanger national military security by illegally obtaining information regarding national defence and disseminating them on the internet," CNN quoted China's Ministry of State Security as saying on WeChat.

"With a focus on military airports, ports, national defence and military industrial units, they drove to or took ferries or planes that pass by designated routes, and clandestinely photographed with telephoto lenses or drones," the civilian spy agency further said.

First time or occasional offenders may receive only a warning but repeat violators rule could be imprisoned for up to seven years, the agency clarified.

It particularly highlighted that these images could potentially expose technical details and progress in military equipment, such as aircraft carriers, and be used by "hostile foreign forces" to analyse combat effectiveness, South China Morning Post (SCMP) said.

It could impact defence planning by revealing the location of deployment and the type of military equipment.

The offenders who used professional equipment such as telephoto lenses and drones to secretly photograph military equipment were punished, the SCMP report said.

In 2021, one such person was sentenced to prison on charges of illegally obtaining state secrets after secretly filming the Fujian aircraft carrier.

How Ayodhya Station Is Being Revamped Ahead Of Temple Inauguration

Refurbished platforms, new signboards, escalators, lifts, and murals of Lord Ram painted on walls--these and many more would be the features of the Ayodhya railway station after the ongoing revamp.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the revamped Ayodhya railway station later this week.

Tourists pouring into the temple town ahead of the grand consecration of the Ram Temple on January 22 are stopping at the railway station, marvelling at the ongoing revamp work which is aimed at giving it the look and feel of a temple.

Prime Minister Modi will touch down at the temple town on December 30--ahead of the consecration ceremony next month.

Purshottam, a tourist from Delhi, said the revamped railway station, while being equipped with new-age amenities for the benefit of passengers and visitors, will also have echoes and influences of Hindu mythology in its overall appearance.

"We are here for the first time. It seems we have arrived at an airport and not a railway station. This station not only has modern amenities but also a touch of Hindu mythology," he told ANI.

Ramnarayan Das Ji Maharaj, a visiting seer in Ayodhya, too, said the revamped and remodelled railway station has the wherewithal to extend top-class services to passengers and visitors.

"It looks gorgeous with a new design. Lord Ram, too, wished for the station to be revamped so well that devotees don't run into any problems visiting the grand temple for the consecration ceremony," he said.

Swami Sai Prasad Saraswati, a visiting seer from Thiruvananthapuram, said, "Ayodhya is beautiful and people are arriving in the city in droves ahead of the consecration ceremony."

The redevelopment is being carried out in two phases. While the first phase, which is near-finishing, will see the development of the platform areas, the second will see the construction of the new station building equipped with more lavatories, dormitories, ticketing and circulating areas, among others.

The district magistrate of Ayodhya, Nitish Kumar, said the railway station has a circulation capacity of about 50,000-60,000 people and work on the second phase will commence soon.

"We are carrying out the revamp of the railway station in a manner as to make it resemble the facade of Ram Temple. It would also reflect the historical significance of Ayodhya. While it would resemble a temple from the outside, it would be equipped with the latest technology for the ease of passengers. It already has a circulation capacity of 50,000-60,000 people and we are only into Phase 1 of the project. Work in the second phase will begin soon," he told ANI.

"The ICC regulations say re messaging 'approval shall not be granted for messages which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes'. So how the f*** people were allowed to take the knee for BLM and stumps were covered with LGBTQ colours?" he questioned.

As of latest, Khawaja has reportedly been denied permission to place a peace symbol on his bat and shoes for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan.

They will decide whether I'm a patriot. I leave it to their decision. I don't have anything to say other than that." The Congress and some organisations had staged a protest against Simha, following the Parliament security breach incident.

Asked about the incident and whether his statement was recorded by the police, Simha merely said, "I have said whatever I have to. I don't have anything else to say on this." Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday had said the statement of Simha has been recorded as part of the probe in the Parliament security breach case.

Journalist-turned-politician Simha is a two-term BJP Lok Sabha member from Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya's ankle injury, which he suffered during the World Cup, is likely to rule him out of the upcoming T20I series, while the player participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) remains a doubt. NDTV sources have confirmed that Hardik will miss the T20I series against Afghanistan on home soil, and the newly-appointed Mumbai Indians captain might not recover in time to lead the team in the 17th season of IPL.

Hardik was traded to MI from Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL Players Auction. The five-time champions then announced that the player will replace the long-serving Rohit Sharma as captain.

India will take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series between January 11 and 17, which will mark their final T20I assignment before the World Cup in June-July.

Hardik has been out of action since injuring his ankle during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. He had missed the T20I series' against Australia and South Africa, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side in his absence.

Man Calls Wife Just To Hear Her Voice, Then Kills Himself Minutes Later

A 41-year-old man from Maharashtra's Thane district died allegedly by suicide minutes after calling his wife and expressing his desire to hear her voice, an official said today.

According to the police, Dombivali resident Sudhakar Yadav, and his wife Sanjana Yadav, 31, had a fight on December 19 after which she left to stay with her sister in Diva.

Around 10 am the next day, Sudhakar called up Sanjana, who was on her way to work at Kurla in Mumbai, saying he wanted to hear her voice for two minutes, said the official.

After the call, Sanjana told the police that she received a photo of Sudhakar, about to hang himself, on WhatsApp.

Sanjana requested her neighbour to check on her husband. The neighbour knocked on the door but there was no response. He then broke it open to find Sudhar hanging from the ceiling, said the official.

The Vishnu Nagar police in Dombivili have registered a case of accidental death and are trying to ascertain the exact reason behind the suicide, the official added.

"India On Verge Of Take-Off, Indians Want Flight To Be Expedited": PM Modi

Exuding confidence in returning to his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence for a third, straight term in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his fellow citizens have come to realise that the country is poised for a giant leap and want their aspirations to take wings at the earliest.

The BJP swept three heartland states -- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh -- that went to Assembly polls last month, building a good head of steam and electoral momentum going into the Lok Sabha polls next year.

In an interview with the UK-based daily Financial Times, Prime Minister Modi said the Indians now appreciate and acknowledge that the country is on the cusp of take-off and want "this flight to be expedited".

His remark is being seen in the context of the next general elections, which are scheduled to be held between April and May 2024.

PM Modi said he was "very confident of victory", invoking his government's track record in bringing "solid change in the common man's life".

"Today, the people of India have very different aspirations from the ones they had 10 years back," PM Modi said in the interview, adding, "They realise that our nation is on the cusp of a take-off. They want this flight to be expedited, and they know the best party to ensure this is the one which brought them this far."

In the recent Assembly elections to five states, the BJP, with PM Modi at the front and centre of its campaign pitch, won resounding mandates in the heartland states, stumping not just their rivals but also some pollsters who had predicted tight races in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

The BJP swept Rajasthan, defying exit-poll projections of a tight race and winning 115 seats. The Congress came a distant second with 69 seats.

A first-time MLA from Sanganer, Bhajan Lal Sharma, took the oath as the Rajasthan chief minister on December 15.

Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa were also sworn in as deputy chief ministers of the desert state.
In neighbouring Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Sai, who won four consecutive terms in the Lok Sabha from the Raigarh constituency from 1999 to 2014, was sworn in as chief minister on December 13.

Of the 90 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh, the BJP bagged 54 while the tally of the incumbent, Congress, was reduced to 35.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP, despite battling close to 20 years of anti-incumbency, won a rousing mandate, bagging 163 seats, while the Congress saw its tally drop to 66 seats.

BJP MLA Mohan Yadav, another surprise pick by the party top brass for CM, was also administered his oath of office on December 13.

Fellow party leaders Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla took oath as the deputy chief ministers of the state.

'The Big Bang Theory' Actor Kate Micucci Reveals She Is Cancer Free

Actor-comedian Kate Micucci recently revealed she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Known for her role as Lucy on "The Big Bang Theory" shared the news of her diagnosis in a TikTok video. Now, she took to the video-sharing platform and posted a positive health update after having cancer surgery last week, as per a report in the  Independent. 

The 43-year-old said that she is cancer-free and the surgery to treat lung cancer "went great". She said in the video, "All the reports came back that it worked. I don't need to do any other treatment. So big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me. The actor added, "And thanks to figuring it out early because I am very, very lucky and I know that." She also thanked her fans and supporters for the love, prayers and kind wishes. Towards the end of the video, Ms Micucci said that she is looking forward to Christmas. "I am really excited to hand out with my little boy for Christmas," she said.

Ms Micucci underwent the surgery last Friday. She posted a video at that time and said, "Hey everybody, this is not a TikTok, it's a 'Sick Tok.' I'm in the hospital but it's because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday." She stated that the diagnosis was a surprise as she had not even smoked a cigarette in her life. "They caught it early. It's pretty weird because I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. So, you know, it was a surprise, but also, I guess it happens.

"I had one thing in my bloodwork that came back really high ... It was HCRP ... not sure what that is exactly but I guess it means there is inflammation somewhere. So I went to a preventative doc who did a few scans. He scanned my heart and that's where the spot in my lung was noticed," she explained on how she found out about the cancer.

Notably, Ms Micucci has been a part of "The Big Bang Theory" for three seasons as the shy and awkward Lucy, a woman that Raj meets at a party. She has also appeared in "How I Met Your Mother", "Weeds," and "Psych".

'Coffee Badging' Job Trend Sparks Alarm Among Business Leaders

Coffee badging, the post-pandemic protest against mandatory office presence, is brewing concern in the business world. This new tactic involves briefly appearing, clocking in, grabbing a coffee, then vanishing back home to work remotely. This global trend is disrupting work culture, prompting companies to react, even potentially with firings.

As some employees are being called back to the office, many are subtly protesting by returning to the office for as little time as possible, Frank Weishaupt, CEO of Owl Labs in Boston, told FOX Business.

"Coffee badging is when employees show up to the office for enough time to have a cup of coffee, show their face, and get a 'badge swipe'," then go home to do the rest of their work," said Mr Weishaupt.

His firm, Owl Labs, which makes video conferencing devices, did a deep dive into the trend's data.

"Our 2023 State of Hybrid Work report found that only about 1 in 5 workers (22%) want to be in the office full time, with 37% wanting hybrid work options and 41% preferring to be fully remote," said Mr Weishaupt.

The study by Owl Labs reveals a potent coffee-fueled rebellion against mandatory office returns. Over half (58%) of hybrid workers confess to "coffee-badging"-clocking in for a morning coffee break at the office, registering their presence, however brief, and then going back home to work remotely.

The trend doesn't stop there - another 8% are eyeing that "imaginary badge" with keen interest, hinting at a potential wave of corporate coffee breaks. This trend seems to be brewing a significant challenge for employers enforcing office policies.
