"The Indian Crowd Gave...": Rizwan's Special Praise For Fans In Hyderabad

Pakistan faced a five-wicket defeat against New Zealand in their ODI World Cup warm-up match in Hyderabad on Friday. Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted 345/5 in 50 overs with Mohammad Rizwan smashing 103 while skipper Babar Azam scoring 80 runs. Later, New Zealand chased down the target in just 43.4 overs as Rachin Ravindra playing a terrific knock of 97 runs. Apart from him, skipper Babar Azam also scored a half-century, who was playing his first match, since March.

Despite being on the losing side, the match turned out to be memorable one for Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a century in 93 balls. After the first innings of the match, Rizwan expressed gratitude towards the people of Hyderabad for giving a warm welcome to the team on their arrival.

"A hundred is a hundred, proud and happy of it. Scoring a century for Pakistan is always special. The Indian crowd gave us a lot of love at the airport itself, just like how our fans love us back in Pakistan. We were welcomed in India in a great way," Rizwan said during the mid-innings.

Rizwan further spoke about his batting position in the team and stated that he can bat wherever the team needs him.

"In T20Is I open for Pakistan, in Tests I bat at 6-7 and in ODIs I bat at number 4, I play according to the team requirements. Saud Shakeel is in great form and he played a classy knock today. Hopefully he turns out to be a great player in the ODI format as well. I and Babar try to rotate the strike, we bat similarly, our communication is good and that helps us," he added.

Talking about the match, Kane Williamson showed his class in his first competitive outing in six months while Rachin Ravindra sizzled at the top of the order as New Zealand gunned down a 346-run target.

Barring the openers, Pakistan batters including Mohammad Rizwan (103 retired hurt off 91), Babar Azam (80 off 84) and Saud Shaukeel (75 off 53) had a good hit in the middle, helping their team post a daunting 345 for five in 50 overs.

New Zealand cruised to the target in 43.4 overs with contributions from Ravindra (97 off 72), Williamson (54 off 50), Daryl Mitchell (59 retired hurt off 57) and Mark Chapman (65 not out off 41).

Congress MLA Arrested In Drugs Case In Punjab, To Hit INDIA Alliance

Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira was today arrested by the Punjab police for alleged involvement in drug smuggling and money laundering. In an early morning operation, a team of Punjab Police reached Khaira's residence and conducted a raid in connection with an old case registered in 2015 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jalalabad, Fazilka.

The primary accusations against Khaira include supporting an international gang of smugglers, sheltering them and receiving financial benefits from drug traffickers.

According to the investigation agency's charge sheet, the funds received were allegedly used to purchase properties.

Between 2014 and 2020, Khaira reportedly spent over ₹6.5 crore on himself and family members, with expenses exceeding his declared income.

The Congress leader was hosting a Facebook Live when the police arrived at his place. In the video, Khaira is seen arguing with police. A police official, DSP Achru Ram Sharma, can be seen in the video telling Khaira that a SIT has been formed in an old drug smuggling case.

In the video, Khaira is also seen raising slogans of "Punjab Sarkar murdabad" as the police personnel detain him.

The arrest is expected to further dent the relations of AAP and the Congress which have come together to form the INDIA alliance. The state unit of the Congress has opposed any tie-up or seat-sharing arrangement with the AAP in Punjab.

"If There's Any Change...": Dravid On Ashwin's Possible ODI WC Selection

India coach Rahul Dravid is relieved that key players such as Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who are all coming back from injuries, could get enough miles in their legs ahead of the ODI World Cup, starting in a week's time. Bumrah, who was troubled by a back issue that kept him out for long, bowled his full quota of overs in Mohali and Rajkot - the two matches he played against Australia - but was a bit expensive in the series-concluding third ODI.

The fast bowler had made a comeback during the T20 series against Ireland last month and also competed in Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

Iyer, who is expected to bat at number four, struck a hundred in Indore and also contributed 48 in Rajkot.

Rahul not only batted in an impressive fashion, scoring two half centuries, he also kept the wickets, allaying concerns around his fitness.

"For all those guys game-time was important. The fact that they have been able to get that is I think something that we are much better off for it," Dravid said after the third ODI that India lost by 66 runs.

"Jassi has been able to play a couple of games and bowl his quota of 10 overs, Siraj (was) suffering from a little bit of bug but he got back and was able to bowl," he said.

"(For) Ashwin, it was really nice to see the way he bowled in the first two games. KL as well, the keeping right through the 50 overs, he is coming off after almost 6-7 months.

"Shreyas has played a couple of really good knocks in the last couple of games. We know we have to keep improving but also hope that we carry this momentum into the World Cup," the India coach added.

Off-spinner R Ashwin's inclusion in the squad for the Australia series had triggered speculation that he might be included in the final World Cup squad. However, David was non-committal. All the teams are required to finalise their World Cup squads by Thursday.

"We have to wait for an official confirmation or a decision on that. The NCA is in touch with the selectors and Ajit (Agarkar) so I will not make any comments on that. If there is any change you will get to hear about it officially, as of now there are no changes," Dravid said, hinting that Axar Patel will be retained in the 15-man squad.

The India coach expects India's full-strength squad to assemble in Guwahati ahead of the first warm-up match against England on September 30.

India had only 13 players to pick their final eleven against Australia here on Wednesday as some members Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami returned home while Ishan Kishan missed the contest due to a bug going around in the group "The two practice or warm-up games, generally people play 15 versus 15, it is tough to sometimes get the intensity in those games but as we have seen in these three games, in hot conditions there has been a lot of intensity as well," Dravid added.

"There was a bit of juggling we had to manage in this game but I am hoping that we have got about a week, we have got a few days. We should have the full strength squad, hopefully the bug around the group has cleared out as well. It will be nice if that happens," the coach said.

Talking about the big loss in the Rajkot ODI, Dravid blamed it on giving away too many runs in the first half of the Australian innings.

"In the overall scheme of things probably 350 was 30 (runs) too many. We should have been chasing 320 if we had bowled better in the first half," he said.

Rohit Sharma (81) and Virat Kohli (56) added 70 runs but the team lost the plot after their partnership was broken. Dravid, however, was pleased to see the two senior batters were among runs right after a break.

"We were on par when Virat and Rohit were batting. We needed one of the top three to get 130 or 140. In these chases you need these kinds of scores," he said.

"Unfortunately it did not happen, but a good thing from our perspective is that both of them batted really well — that is a positive. They are coming off not playing cricket for a week so it was nice to get straight into it and get runs for us," he said.

Stuck In Bengaluru Traffic For Hours, He Ordered Pizza And Got It On Time

Long rows of cars, pacing one inch every minute, and pizzas to kill time - this was the scene in Bengaluru last night as the city faced unprecedented traffic jams hours after a near citywide shutdown due to a strike.

Bengaluru's roads ground to a halt on Wednesday, with vehicles stranded for hours and many breaking down. The Outer Ring Road (ORR) bore the brunt of the congestion, with commuters reporting being stuck for over five hours.

As people were stuck in the traffic, a video of two Domino's delivery executives bringing food to commuters has gone viral on social media. The delivery agents' use of live location tracking allowed them to navigate the traffic and deliver pizzas on time to a car, despite the challenges.

"When we decided to order from @dominos during the Bangalore choke. They were kind enough to track our live location (a few metres away from our random location added in the traffic) and deliver to us in the traffic jam," an X, formerly Twitter, user shared.

The video has seen nearly 3 lakh impressions on X so far.

"Next time I'm booking a massage from Urban Company," wrote one user.

"Domino's fulfilling their 30-minute delivery promise. This is awesome. On another note, take a moment to consider these delivery personnel. It's truly challenging for them, navigating through heavy traffic, and still consistently meeting customer expectations," wrote another.

Traffic on Wednesday was twice as heavy as on a normal day, with 3.5 lakh vehicles on the road as of 7:30 pm, compared to the usual 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh.

A bandh was called in Bengaluru yesterday by farmers and Kannada organisations backed by the opposition BJP and JD(S) to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

More than 200 protesters, including Vatal Nagaraj and Praveen Shetty, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the federation of pro-Kannada organisations, were arrested for defying prohibitory orders and marching towards Raj Bhavan from Vidhana Soudha.

Animal Teaser: Ranbir Kapoor's Villain Arc Begins At Home

The makers of Animal released the film's teaser on Ranbir Kapoor's 41st birthday. The teaser is as intense as it gets. The video begins with Ranbir Kapoor's character and his love interest Rashmika Mandanna taking a stroll together when she asks him, "Thought about kids?" Ranbir replies that he wants to be a father. When Rashmika asks him if he will be like his father, a triggered Ranbir Kapoor recalls his equation with his dad Anil Kapoor and it is so distant from being healthy. There are flashback sequences of Anil Kapoor slapping his son mercilessly. Back to the present - Ranbir argues with Rashmika that his father "is the best father in the world."

Anil Kapoor's excuse for his troubled relationship with son is this, "I am sure I made some mistakes. I didn't know how to train a son." Ranbir replies, "You trained me well" and cue dramatically intense music, snippets of him transforming into a gangster of sorts. The teaser ends with Ranbir Kapoor bleeding as a voice over from him warns his father that this is just the beginning and a lot more is yet to happen. He also asks his father to "finish him." The him in question appears to be Bobby Deol, who turns up only at the end of the video - no words spoken, just a knife in hand.

Check out the teaser of Animal here:

Earlier, Animal  was slated to release on August 11 this year and it would have clashed with Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi's OMG 2. 'Thrashed, Made To Eat From Dustbin': House Help Accuses Army Major, Wife

An Army officer and his wife have been arrested in Assam for allegedly torturing their underage house help and inflicting severe injuries that included broken teeth and burn marks on her body, said sources. Her medical report revealed a fractured nose and deep cuts on her tongue, police sources said, adding that she was kept without clothes most of the time.

The 16-year-old girl, who had signs of injuries all over her body, was allegedly tortured for six months and starved by the couple. When she requested for food, they would make her eat from the garbage bin, the sources added.

The girl alleged she was stripped and thrashed until she bled, the extent of the torture being such that she was even forced to lick her own blood.

"She kept me locked me in a room, pulled my hair, and beat me. She was angry with my efficiency in household chores and beat me with a belan (rolling pin). She would strip me. She would beat me, and when I bled, she forced me to lick my own blood," the girl recounted the horror.

The accused couple have asserted that the girl incurred the injuries due to falling down from the stairs.

A case has been registered under the stringent POCSO and SC/ST laws and other relevant sections. Charges of assault, unlawful labour, and slavery have also been added, said Mayank Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao.

"The girl informed us that she had been subjected to torture for over six months," Mr Kumar elaborated.

The accused, who holds the rank of Major in Indian Army, had hired the girl for babysitting and taken her to Palampur in Himachal Pradesh where he is posted. It was here that that the girl underwent alleged torture for months.

Upon their return to Assam, she visited her family and disclosed what she went through. A prompt police complaint led to an FIR and the arrests.

The girl's mother told the media she could barely recognize her when she came home. "She only 16 but appeared like an elderly woman. She had broken teeth and burn marks on her face. Her ears were mutilated and had difficulty in speaking," she said.

As the couple was taken to the police station, a woman made their way through the security and slapped the wife, showed a video.

Opinion: The Trudeau Problem in Canada

It's been a tough few days for the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Nothing, it seems, is going right for him. His domestic popularity has been on a downward spiral for some time and is unlikely to rebound any time soon, if the present trends are anything to go by. His main rival, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, is gaining ground with recent polls suggesting he has the backing of 40 per cent of Canadians who see him as the best choice to be prime minister, a 5 percent increase from 2022, even as Trudeau's popularity remains unchanged at 31 percent.

There seems to be an across-the-board dissatisfaction with the direction of the country as economic issues predominate the domestic political agenda and Trudeau is seen as being unable to get a grip on a nation adrift.

It is usually in times like these that political leaders look to foreign policy to shore up their credibility. But despite Trudeau trying hard, his moves have fallen flat even in this realm. The latest in this series is the honouring by the Canadian House of Commons of a Ukrainian man, Yaroslav Hunka, who fought for a Nazi unit in the Second World War, during the hosting of an address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Hunka was welcomed by the Speaker of the House as "a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero, and we [Canadian Parliament] thank him for all his service." This has caused a political and social storm in Canada with several members of parliament calling for a public apology by Trudeau. The Speaker has resigned but Trudeau has not apologized. Underlining that the decision to invite Hunka had been made by the Speaker's office alone, Trudeau has merely said that "this is something that is deeply embarrassing to parliament of Canada and by extension to all Canadians."

But this matter has not remained limited to Canada. Calling the incident "outrageous," Russia wasted no time in arguing that "many Western countries, including Canada, have raised a young generation that does not know who fought whom or what happened during the Second World War. And they know nothing about the threat of fascism." Moscow, whose targeting of Ukraine was based on its claims to "denazify" the nation, would have found the irony too difficult to resist. Poland too has called for an apology from Canada.

And then there is the India-Canada row that shows no signs of abating. Trudeau's mishandling of an important relationship not only for Ottawa but for the wider West has played right into the hands of China that must be watching with great interest the unfolding of this saga of a lack of responsible leadership and platitudinous rhetoric. India has pushed back hard against "politically motivated" accusations from Canada. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar targeted Canada when he emphasized that the international community should not"countenance that political convenience determines responses to terrorism, extremism and violence" and "respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs cannot be exercises in cherry-picking."

This crisis has also given a unique opportunity to New Delhi to throw the spotlight on Canada's own troubled record on extremism and terrorism. Since the 1980s, this has been the case and India has been the primary victim of Canada's hypocrisy in brushing terrorism under the carpet in the name of human rights and freedom of expression. Where India has managed to get a handle on its own internal security situation in Punjab, Canada has been unable to find a solution to its own festering extremism. It is now becoming an extra territorial threat, one that India has been repeatedly asking Ottawa to come to terms with.

Trudeau's inability to comprehend the seriousness of this challenge has led to the present predicament. He has had no compunction in celebrating extra territorial killings by the US but when it comes to Indian entreaties they are not only to be ignored but even worse - challenges to Indian sovereignty are to be milked for domestic political considerations. The Indian response to Trudeau's accusations has shown that New Delhi is in no mood to countenance this posture and will go all out in signaling to Canada and other adversaries that it is serious about tackling the challenges it faces. There is a reason why Canada's closest allies have been circumspect about falling behind Ottawa in targeting India. It is also interesting to note the caution that Trudeau has shown when dealing with Chinese interference in Canadian elections and the alacrity with which he has targeted India.

There are bigger issues at stake here for India and the wider world. Trudeau has pushed India-Canada ties to the brink and it is highly unlikely that the trust deficit between New Delhi and Trudeau can be bridged any time soon. But the Canadian Prime Minister's problems go beyond India as this past one week has shown as he navigates, rather unsuccessfully, one crisis after another.

Malayalam film 2018 is India official entry for the Oscars, reported news agency PTI. 2018, subtitled Everyone In A Hero, is a survival drama about the floods that devastated Kerala in 2018. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the film stars Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain and Lal. 2018 released in May this year and is both a critical and box office hit – it is the highest earning Malayalam film of all time and one of Indian cinema's top earners this year.

2018 will compete for the Best International Feature Film Oscar, a category that was previously titled Best Foreign Film.

No Indian entry has been nominated for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars since Lagaan in 2002. Only two other films have previously made it to final five – Mother India, starring Nargis, and Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay!

India's official entry for the Oscars last year was Chhello Show, which didn't make the nominees slate. However, it was a landmark year for Indian cinema with Naatu Naatu from RRR winning Best Original Song and The Elephant Whisperers winning Best Documentary Short Subject.

Watch: 6 Consecutive Sixes, 50 In 9 Balls! Nepal Batter Creates History

In a record-breaking display, Nepal batters smashed three different world records as they took on Mongolia in an Asian Games 2023 match on Wednesday. While most batters managed to score runs effortlessly, the man who shone the most was Dipendra Singh, having scored 6 consecutive fifties, en route fastest T20I fifty in international cricket. Nepal went on to post a 300-plus total in the game, becoming the first team in the history of the sport to score 314/3 in 20 overs.

Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed batter, struck the fastest-ever T20I hundred in the history of the game, reaching the triple-digit score in 34 balls. In the process, he surpassed David Miller and Rohit Sharma's joint record. The South African and Indian batters had scored fifty in 35 balls previously.

Batting at No 3, Malla smashed 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137 and power Nepal to the highest-ever T20I score of 314 for 3 against Mongolia, who opted to field.

Then came Dipendra Singh Airee, the all-rounder at No. 5, who rewrote the record books, blasting a nine-ball fifty that bettered Yuvraj Singh's 16-year-old record. Yuvra, during the ICC World T20 match in 2007, had scored a half-century against England in 12 balls for his fifty en route to scoring 58. In the innings, Yuvraj had also scored six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad.

Social media went berserk, lauding Dipendra's heroics. Although the feat came against minnows Mongolia, the batter still required a giant effort to do what he did in the Asian Games.

Dipendra also smashes 6 successive sixes in the game, matching Yuvraj's record.

As far as the team totals go, the previous record for the highest innings total in a single T20I was held by Afghanistan. In a match against Ireland, Afghanistan had amassed 278 for 3 in 2019.

"Dev Anand Was A Dynamo Beyond Compare": Zeenat Aman On Co-Star

It is the birth centenary of legendary actor Dev Anand, who ruled the hearts of millions of film enthusiasts for decades. Dev Anand was one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, who even directed and produced several films. He is remembered for his work in Guide, Johny Mera Naam, Jewel Thief, Kala Pani, Baazi, Paying Guest, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Des Pardes. The actor, often referred to as the first evergreen hero of Bollywood, had launched some of the finest talents, including Zeenat Aman, Tina Ambani and Tabu. Dev Anand's film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, which introduced Zeenat Aman, began a new era in Bollywood. The film, released in 1971, also featured Mumtaz and Prem Chopra. On the 100th birth anniversary of Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman has shared a special Instagram post to pay her heartfelt tribute to the legendary star. She has shared two throwback pictures. While the first frame was a still from the film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, the second photo is from Heera Panna, released in 1973.

As per Zeenat Aman, Dev Anand was "stylish, suave, prolific, a dynamo beyond compare, and generosity of talent". She added, "He  [Dev Anand] sparked careers (mine included), brought together creative heads, and made films that resonated across generations. It gladdens my heart to see his legacy honoured an entire century since his birth. In recent days, I've been overwhelmed with requests for comments about him but there is little to add to what I've already said."

Zeena Aman also spoke about the three-part Instagram series that she shared earlier in April this year. She said, "Though I posted a three-part series about him just a few weeks ago, I can't resist the nostalgia of these two frames from our earliest films together. They will be instantly recognisable to my older followers, but I am not so sure about you younger lot." Reacting to the post, Sanjay Kapoor commented: "Iconic film...iconic picture." Chitrangda Singh dropped a series of heart-eye emojis in the comments.

Now, let's revisit Zeenat Aman's three-part Instagram series dedicated to the legendary “starmaker.”

Zeenat Aman, in a series of posts shared in April, revealed that she got the role in Hare Rama Hare Krishna because of Dev Anand. Sharing a monochrome picture with Dev Anand on Instagram, she said, "When entering an industry like Bollywood, every actor hopes for a starmaker. Someone who sees the glimmer of potential and ambition that has perhaps only been visible to the self thus far. Very few are so lucky as to find this person, but I was. My starmaker was Dev [Anand] saab." Zeenat Aman revealed that when she and her family were packing bags to leave India, it was Dev Anand who persuaded her [Zeenat Aman] mother to delay their relocation plans.

She added, “It was 1970, and I think O P Ralhan was feeling quite sorry for me. He had given me a bit part in Hulchul, it had made little impact, and I was already packing my bags to relocate to Malta with my mother and stepfather. Dev Saab and his Navketan team were casting for Hare Rama Hare Krishna at the time. In his largesse, O P Ralhan suggested that they meet me. I vividly remember what I wore that day. A fitted yellow top, a fawn-coloured skirt and glasses with yellow frames. My mother was at the meeting (remember, I was still in my teens). So she held forth, while I spoke when spoken to, and packed tobacco into my pipe. The meeting concluded, and a few days later the landline jangled. I was asked to come for a screen test, and that is how I came to be cast as Jasbir/Janice. Oh, but the saga doesn't end here. My family was ready to depart the country, but Dev [Anand] saab persuaded my mother and I to delay our travels. So instead we flew to Kathmandu, stayed at the famous Soaltee Hotel, and waited long days to be called to set to shoot! I was frothing at the bit by the time it was finally time for my scenes. The first of which was a bus sequence. It makes me laugh to watch it now because I know I'm practically spitting out my lines in my impatience to prove myself!”

Hare Rama Hare Krishna was a “huge hit” and Zeenat Aman became an overnight sensation. Following the success of the film, Zeenat Aman's immigration plans were postponed for an indefinite period.

“In those days it took much longer to make a film from start to finish. Two or three years even. My mother and I once again prepared to leave Mumbai, and yet again Dev Saab persuaded us to stay. He promised to edit quickly and get the movie into the cinemas. Sure enough, the film was released, it became a huge hit, and I became a star. My immigration plans were now indefinitely postponed, and Dev Saab started writing another script with me in mind,” she finished off.

For Zeenat Aman, Dev Anand was a “dynamic mentor.” After Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Dev Anand signed her for Panna in the 1973 film Heera Panna. However, with the growing success and popularity of the duo, a misunderstanding seeped in.

Zeena Aman wrote, “The age gap between Dev [Anand] saab and myself was nearly 30 years. I had played his sister in HRHK [Hare Rama Hare Krishna], and he did not yet see me as a romantic lead. Instead, he cast me in the titular role of (Raakhee's sister) Panna in Heera Panna, which was released in 1973. I had a blast shooting that film, and its soundtrack remains a favourite to this day. Dev [Anand] saab was a dynamic mentor. Our association continued, and next on the cards was Ishk Ishk Ishk. I once again found myself in Nepal, but this time we were shooting in the picturesque lake town of Pokhara! Those of you who have seen the film know that it features a bevy of lovely women as my sisters and friends. They were literally so, because prior to the shoot Dev [Anand] saab asked if I had any “model friends” who could join the project. I put the word out, several friends answered my call, and so it was quite the party in Pokhara. With a good-looking and young cast and crew, it should be no surprise that there were plenty of dalliances and heartbreaks unfolding behind the scenes. But please don't expect the gossipy details from me! Would you like the world to know about your every crush, humiliation or affair?”

On her experience of working with Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman said it was “seamless and joyful” as the superstar was “a fount of creative energy.” While Zeenat Aman's career was blooming and fresh offers were pouring, one of these led to the “first and the only misunderstanding” between her and Dev Anand.

“Anyway, Dev [Anand] saab was on a roll. Working with him was seamless and joyful. He was a fount of creative energy, and I was delighted to have his guidance. It would have been easy for him to tie me down to a contract, but he had the grace to never even suggest it. Thus allowing me a chance to spread my wings. We also starred together in several films made by other directors such as Darling, Darling and Kalabaaz. My career was booming, fresh offers were pouring in, but alas, one of these, led to the first and only misunderstanding between Dev [Anand] saab and myself,” she quipped.

In the third part of her post, Zeenat Aman talked about the "great misunderstanding" between herself and Dev Anand. The Satyam Shivam Sundaram star revealed details about the episode that left her feeling "humiliated, hurt and disconcerted".

Zeenat Aman mentioned that in his autobiography titled “Romancing with Life”, released in 2007, Dev Anand had professed his love for the actress and insinuated that she and Raj Kapoor had more than a director-actor equation which broke his heart.

For context, Raj Kapoor was also Zeenat Aman's co-star in Vakil Babu and Gopichand Jasoos. They knew each other socially as they often exchanged warm greetings at public events. After the blockbuster success of Bobby, starring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, Zeenat Aman said, “Naturally, I wanted to be directed by him under the RK banner, and when the opportunity arose I jumped at it. The story of how I landed SSS is well-known, so I won't repeat it. I was giddy to have been cast for Raj [Kapoor] ji's unconventional project, and put heart and soul into it. I was completely unaware that Dev [Anand] saab was simultaneously misreading the situation.”

Zeenat Aman continued, “Years later, in 2007, ‘Romancing with Life', Dev [Anand] Saab's autobiography hit the stands. In it, he professed that he was in love with me, and insinuated that Raj [Kapoor] ji and I had more than a director-actor equation which broke his heart. To be honest, I was livid. I felt humiliated, hurt and disconcerted that Dev [Anand] saab, my much older mentor, a person I loved and admired platonically, would not only believe such a story devoid of a shred of truth but would then go on to publish it for the world to read. For weeks my phone rang incessantly as friends inquired about “what happened” and shared excerpts from the book. I never did read it though, and in my anger, I consigned the copy I was sent to storage in the basement!"

Despite “the great misunderstanding” which embarrassed Zeenat Aman deeply, the actress stated that she will always remember Dev Anand for “his rare talent and warm guidance.”

“So here it is - the great misunderstanding. This episode embarrassed me deeply. For years I felt unable to talk about it to set the record straight. But now, time has granted me perspective and peace. Human folly is an eternal truth, and we all fall victim at one point or another. I will always remember Dev [Anand] saab for his rare talent and warm guidance. He has my earnest gratitude and I do not tolerate disrespect to his name,” Zeenat Aman completed the Instagram thread.

Zeenat Aman also won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for  Hare Rama Hare Krishna.
